A few steps from the Champs-Elysées, OFFSCREEN takes place in a sublime Hotel Particulier with a neoclassical Haussmann façade and its splendid gardens.

From Louis XVI to Adèle de Rothschild, through Balzac, two centuries of history are revealed in an exceptional setting. It was in 1874 that Baroness Adèle de Rothschild really began her project of a private mansion, where the arts would express themselves to the fullest. In 1922, the State became the universal legatee of the collections and the building, a donation in line with the practices of the greatest philanthropic fortunes. However, one wish had to be respected: that the Hotel Salomon de Rothschild should assume its vocation to promote the arts.
